Well child visits are done at the Newborn, 2-week*, 1 month, 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months, 15 months, 18 months, and then yearly beginning at two years. Please schedule your well visits one to two months prior to the desired appointment date. Remember that many insurance companies require the well visit to occur after the child’s birthday and a full year after the previous well appointment. If you request an appointment outside of those parameters you will be required to pay the full appointment amount in the event that the claim is rejected by the insurance company. Potomac Pediatrics can only accommodate two siblings at a time for well check-ups. This is to ensure that each child receives the proper attention and care he/she deserves for their yearly visit. We require each patient to have an annual wellness exam in order to best manage their care and to catch potentially serious medical conditions before your child gets sick.

If you are looking for more information about health and developmental reminders as well as what tests and immunizations are given at each visit, click below on the corresponding age. Please note that vaccine schedules and groupings of vaccines are subject to change based on the availability from our manufacturers.

*2 Day and 2 Week appointments are recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics and the pediatricians here at Potomac Pediatrics to ensure your child is growing properly and getting adequate nutrition. Most insurance companies offer a limited number of well visits during the first year of life. As a result, the 2-day visit is billed as an office visit and co-pays/ deductible/ or co-insurance will apply.
