Girlology & Potomac Pediatrics Partnership Press Release

FEAR LESS. When boys learn about puberty before it happens, they feel more prepared, face it with greater confidence and might even be excited! We understand it can be difficult to start these conversations or address any questions or concerns they may have. Guyology is designed to give you medically accurate, in-the-moment support needed to navigate your journey. An accessible resource like Guyology helps boys and parents prepare for what’s ahead!

KNOW MORE. Unfortunately what most boys learn and hear about their bodies may not come from trusted sources, and may not even be entirely correct! From anatomy changes, hygiene, acne management, and the ultimate question- “how much will I grow?” – our Guyologist (that’s us— knowledgeable physicians with experience in taking care of boys) are ready to guide you through every age and stage of your sons growing body and keep you out of the Google gutters!

Meet our Guyologist, Dr. Joseph Mechak:

Dr. Joseph Mechak is a Pediatrician at Potomac Pediatrics in Rockville, MD.  He was born and raised in Montgomery County where he still lives with his wife and 2 young children.  In his practice, he has a particular interest in Childhood Obesity and founded the Health Habits Clinic as a forum to teach children, adolescents, young adults and their families about the important of a healthy lifestyle and help them take their first steps towards healthier living.

Dr. Mechak started teaching Guyology in 2021.  He started teaching it because he believes in the importance of education and establishing an open dialogue within families about uncomfortable topics like puberty.  He loves that Guyology creates a safe space for kids to ask questions, be a little goofy, and create a shared experience with their parents to help drive an ongoing conversation about puberty.
