
COVID-19 Vaccine for children 6 months-5 years old
The FDA and CDC approved the COVID-19 vaccine for all children 6 months to 5 years of age. Now, all children 6 months and older are eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine. We at Potomac Pediatrics do recommend that all children 6 months and older receive all eligible COVID-19 vaccines for their respective age group. The 2 doses of the Moderna vaccines are spaced by 28 days. Pfizer recommends 21 days between dose 1 and dose 2 and > 8 weeks between dose 2 and 3. Your child is considered fully vaccinated 2-weeks following the 2nd dose of the Moderna vaccine or 2-weeks following the 3rd dose of the Pfizer vaccine.
COVID-19 Vaccine for patients 5 years and older
Pfizer Primary Series: 5 Years and Older: 2 doses given 3–8 weeks apart. It is recommended that patients who are moderately or severely immunocompromised should get a 3rd dose at least 4 weeks after their 2nd dose in the primary series. Please be advised that Potomac Pediatrics is only offering the Pfizer vaccine for children 5-17 years.
Pfizer Boosters: 5 years and older: Patients who completed the Pfizer primary series should get a booster. Under limited circumstances may some patients may get a 2nd booster dose. Any adult requesting an additional booster dose should do so through their PCP to determine eligibility.
Moderna Primary Series: 18 years and older: 2 doses of Moderna in the primary series, given 4-8 weeks apart. It is recommended that patients who are moderately or severely immunocompromised should get a 3rd dose at least 4 weeks after their 2nd dose in the primary series.
5 through 17 years: 2 doses of Moderna in the primary series, given 4-8 weeks apart. It is recommended that patients who are moderately or severely immunocompromised should get a 3rd dose at least 4 weeks after their 2nd dose in the primary series. Please be advised Potomac Pediatrics is NOT offering this series to patients.

- Select Show Availabilities for the age group of the person you’re scheduling for
- Follow the scheduling prompts on the right side
- Complete ALL required information. Non-patients who select “self pay” will have their appointment request rejected or canceled.
