COVID Vaccines

Recommendations:

Children 6 months – 4 years

• Never vaccinated → 3 dose Pfizer primary series, 2 dose Moderna primary series
• Partially vaccinated → Complete primary series above with SAME brand
  • 1 bivalent Moderna → 1 XBB Moderna
  • 1 bivalent Pfizer → 2 XBB Pfizer
  • 2 bivalent Pfizer → 1 XBB Pfizer
  • 2 bivalent Moderna → 1 XBB Moderna
  • 3 bivalent Pfizer → 1 XBB Pfizer
• Fully vaccinated → Single booster dose of SAME brand

The updated COVID vaccines is notated as XBB based on the main strain of the virus that it is covering.

Patients 5 years and older

• Regardless of prior vaccination status → Single mRNA vaccine dose
• Does not need to be the same brand as primary series or previous booster dose

Intervals

• Must be 2 months since last dose
• May wait up to 3 months from previous infection
