During these informational sessions, you will learn what it means for Potomac Pediatrics to become your family’s medical home. We will highlight all the great services we have offer so you understand what sets us apart. We will also walk you through what to expect during the days, weeks, and years following delivery.
Hospital Stay: There are many great hospitals in the community, once you’ve delivered your baby they will be seen by the hospital staff pediatrician for the first examinations. The hospital staff will provide your baby with a vitamin K shot, routine hearing screen, blood test for state newborn screening and offer Hepatitis B vaccination. We encourage all patients to receive the first Hepatitis B vaccine at the hospital.
Hospital Discharge: Once you know your discharge date please call the office at 301-279-6750 to schedule your baby’s first appointment with us! The first visit in our office is 1-2 days after you leave the hospital.
Your First Visit: Please bring your hospital discharge paperwork to your newborn visit, it has important information that your provider will need. Your baby will be seen by one of our primary care providers and you will have a session with our lactation consultant to help with any and all questions related to infant feeding.
